HOW IT WORKS

An unemployed young women with any education background applies for the different programs at the Hub
1. The unemployed technology Graduates Program for young ladies with technological degrees; offered technical training in application development by WITU or a technical parter. At the end of each training WITU HUB hosts a HACKATHON where the young women are encouraged to identify a need/problem they can solve using their newly acquired/improved skill. Out of this Hackathon businesses and business models are created, application prototypes are built and a 3 months acceleration program follows where they young ladies are helped to refine their business ideas, models and finance. With business development advise the young women build enterprises that earn income and also employ other youths thus eliminating poverty and unemployment in Uganda.
we have a CODING Class running, like learning how to build mobile apps , games and animation, programming languages like python, ruby on rails, HTML5, CSS, C, C++………. If you are interested in any of these classes, please look at our events page for new and on going classes.
Accelerator + Incubation: After training a young woman we understand the importance of having a place to work that offers internet, good working environment and business development advise, VCs, Investors, Collaboration with fellow techies among others…..
2. The school drop outs program: Offers young ladies that are not in school because of different reasons another chance at a better life by training in life skills, employability skills, ICT and Entrepreneurship. Three three (3) Months program requires the young women to form a group and identify an income generating activity. This group also has to create a saving club. After identifying the business, creating a simple business plan, they test the viability of the business by going into the community where they intend to transact before rolling it out and investing more money into it.
