OUR HISTORY
WITU was founded in July 2010 and officially launched in October 2011 by a group of ladies who are passionate in the IT field and have seen the huddles faced by many women face in this field in Uganda.
We strongly believe that women’s participation in the creation of technology in IT will strengthen the workforce, raise the standard of living for many women, and help to ensure that technology addresses women’s needs and expands the possibilities for their lives.
OUR VISION AND MISSION
VISION:A forum focused on finding real solutions to the long-standing problems of how to attract, retain and advance more women in the IT industry while inspiring, leading and influencing the action to increase the number of women in IT
MISSION: To encourage girls and women into the technological field and advance their careers in technology, through networking, mentoring, training and professional development
OBJECTIVES
1. Increase the number of women in IT through different out reach programs and their representation in senior positions.
2. Provide networking opportunities for women working in the IT industry, expose support mechanisms to sustain women in the network and disseminate of best practice.
3. To integrate use of technology in solving life’s problems
4. To facilitate collaboration and communication among the tech ladies
5. To inspire women to be transformational leaders
6. To motivate the girl community to continue in their technology development
