The Career, leadership and Life Skills Program (CLSP) is a three (3) to (6) months training program that engages young girls and women that have dropped out of school and are from underserved communities who are not in any income generating activity. The young women are trained in STEM, Entrepreneurship, leadership and Life skills. Working with local community leaders and women, we are increasing these young ladies chances at finding gainful employment or starting a business that is technology enabled.
We require that the young women form a group and identify an income generating activity after acquiring the skills rendered to them. This group also has to create a saving club. After identifying the business, creating a simple business plan, they test the viability of the business by first showing us their ideas at the Skills Exhibition Day and then going into the community where they transact before rolling it out and investing more money into it. The best Ideas are given small loans to carry out the business.
That aside, we also empower the ladies in employ-ability skills and it is our hope that if one is not able to start a business then they can ably get employment and confidently apply the skills that they have acquired.
To this end, we connect the young women to available job opportunities locally and internationally.
Our plan is to advance this course into a diploma in fall of 2019. We are creating the women’s institute of technology and Innovation that will feature blended learning (face to face and an e-learning platform) that the young women will use to access our trainings and not be bound by location. Watch out for more……
